Join in for the Misfits Unified Super Contest!
Ever since the beginning of TierraMitica, art has been a big part of every day life for everyone living in our community. When we are not guiding, assisting or hosting workshops, most of our days are filled with art projects of all kinds, because being creative makes us feel good and Collective Art brings us together.
Our Collective Art is truly unique and new in the world, because even though obviously a lot of art exists that is created by many people, our way involves absolutely everyone that joins in from the envisioning and decision making process to the actual creation and finishing. No matter how many people take part, no matter their background or experience or lack thereof, we all work together in a way so that everyone has a voice and we manage to make it work beautifully, without competition between artists and without arguing: humans working together as one.
In 2018 we decided to go all out and organized for the first time the Misfits Unified Sculpting Extravaganza, a one month long collective sculpting event in TierraMitica, to which absolutely anyone and everyone was invited, artistic or not, free of charge, to come and learn how to sculpt with us. We sculpted the entire outside of our amphitheater, El Huevo de la Vida! It was such a success that we organized another one in 2019, which brought us even more impressive results. We created “Umbala!“, a playground that can be played as a boardgame in the shape of a huge caterpillar with tunnels and magical places to discover and riddles and puzzles and challenges to overcome.
Our plan was to organize another one this November in TierraMitica and to also complete a project one next summer in the US or Europe, but with everything that is going on in the world right now we had to change our plans, so we decided to organize the Misfits Super Contest: everyone is invited to create a collective art piece with one or more friends and share the result on the site: www.misfitsunified.com! Every month we declare a winner of a symbolic Misfits Unified T-shirt and at the end of one year, we pick the overall winner who gets a massive prize: an all expenses paid trip to our next event, wherever in the world that may be, including flights and lodgings for a month, and the opportunity to sculpt and create with us. How cool is that?!
