La Fiesta Mítica 7 o ya basta!

We finished The Mythic Party 7!
After 9 months of Covid lockdown and quarantines, we were really pumped to share our yearly free collective art event, the Mythic Party, with all Peruvian and international friends. Regrettably, we had to cancel the Party for all our Peruvian friends and other international visitors, because the government announced a 14 days obligatory quarantine for all visitors from abroad. The only solution to help all our friends who were traveling towards Peru to participate both in the Mythic Party 7 and the Ultra Advanced workshop afterwards was to quarantine them here in TierraMitica with us and in order to be legal not allow anybody else in.
But the Mythic Party was not totally dead! Oh no! The TierraMiticans and 13 visitors, 28 in total in contrast to the 60 we were expecting, had a blast of a time: Painting together, with music and dancing and smiles in our faces.
In the first two days we repainted La Mama, our first sculpture, and the next three days of the Mythic Party were spent painting the spectacular The Jungle Book temple as well as various murals on the walls of bungalows and the amazing Yellow Submarine swimming pool - all for our newly created Pueblo Colorado, the spectacular retreat center village we have built here in our high jungle paradise.

Day 1 and 2: La Mama
For the third edition of our Mythic Party, we created our first big sculpture out of metal and cement: La Mama, a giant 6,5 meter sculpture of a pregnant Mother Earth. We then painted her collectively for the "Mythic Party 3, La Mama", which opened for us a whole world of beautiful sculptures and the development of collective art.
Sadly our first efforts at a giant sculpture was an experimentation with various mixes and materials, some of them absorbing humidity, and many parts of La Mama have been crumbling and deteriorating ever since. Every year we patched her up, and every year she deteriorated further. Patching and patching destroyed areas, trying to match the colors and the original art was making her look worse and worse. So this year, in honor of La Mama and all the beautiful people who joined us in 2017 to paint her, we stripped her down and did a full restauration, so that she would withstand the elements as well as our newer creations. Initially we wanted to replicate the original, but we soon realized that this would not be art, and would not allow us to flow. So we decided to paint her with love in the same energy, but have a new La Mama, respecting the original but refreshing her in more ways than just the cement.

Day 3, 4, and 5
Like usual we decided to go for a huge challenge which was to paint murals on each of the 5 bungalows, completely paint the entire Jungle Book Temple as well as our Yellow Submarine swimming pool.
Day 3 of the Mythic Party was very special and we only painted for half the day, because it was the shamanic wedding day of two TierraMiticans: Leroy and Niloufar. The wedding was absolutely magical in every way: our amphitheater was transformed into a scene that looked straight from the stories of 1001 nights and Niloufar got the wedding of her dreams as a beautiful Arabian princess, rescued by her mighty knight in shining armor.
After a long evening of partying and jamming, we continued to paint the next day. The energy ran high and so too did the fun, but above all we were all amazed at the incredible beauty created by such a small group of people in such a short period of time. We are so proud of the work we did and everyone involved in this year’s Mythic Party. Check out the results and see what the joy of Collective Art can do even during lock-down and quarantine!

So even though we were not able to have the Mythic Party the way we planned, we adapted to the circumstances and we absolutely rocked it! We ended with a bang, during our very first party in The Jungle Book temple, celebrating the common birthday and anniversary of Mikis and Lies and the end of the 7th edition of the Mythic Party.
Already we have plans for next year's event, and it is going to be absolutely magical and next level once more. Stay tuned for updates on our new upcoming projects and events, because we barely even started. OH YEAH!

¡Terminamos la Fiesta Mítica 7!
Después de 9 meses de bloqueo y cuarentena de Covid, estábamos realmente emocionados de compartir nuestro evento anual de arte colectivo gratuito, la Fiesta Mítica, con todos los amigos peruanos e internacionales. Lamentablemente, tuvimos que cancelar la Fiesta para todos nuestros amigos peruanos y otros visitantes internacionales residentes en Perú, porque el gobierno anunció una cuarentena obligatoria de 14 días para todos los visitantes del exterior. La única solución para ayudar a todos nuestros amigos que viajaban hacia Perú a participar tanto en la Fiesta Mítica 7 como en el taller Ultra Advanced posterior fue ponerlos en cuarentena aquí en TierraMitica con nosotros y para que sea legal no dejar entrar a nadie más.
¡Pero la Fiesta Mítica no estaba del todo muerta! ¡Oh no! Los TierraMiticanos y 13 visitantes, 28 en total en contraste con los 60 que esperábamos, lo pasamos de maravilla: pintando juntos, con música y baile y sonrisas en la cara.
En los primeros dos días volvimos a pintar La Mama, nuestra primera escultura, y los siguientes tres días de la Fiesta Mítica los pasamos pintando el espectacular Templo del Libro de la Selva, así como varios murales en las paredes de los bungalows y la increíble piscina Submarina Amarilla, todo para nuestro Pueblo Colorado recién creado, el espectacular centro de hospedaje que hemos construido aquí en nuestro paraíso de selva alta.

Día 1 y 2: La Mama
Para la tercera edición de nuestra Fiesta Mítica, creamos nuestra primera gran escultura de metal y cemento: La Mama, una escultura gigante de 6,5 metros de una Madre Tierra embarazada. Luego la pintamos colectivamente para la "Fiesta Mítica 3, La Mama", que nos abrió todo un mundo de bellas esculturas y el desarrollo del arte colectivo.
Lamentablemente, nuestros primeros esfuerzos en una escultura gigante fueron una experimentación con varias mezclas y materiales, algunos de ellos absorbiendo la humedad, y muchas partes de La Mama se han estado desmoronando y deteriorándose desde entonces. Todos los años la arreglamos y cada año su estado se deteriora aún más. Parchando y parcheando áreas destruidas, intentando igualar los colores y el arte original la hacía lucir cada vez peor. Así que este año, en honor a La Mama y a todas las personas hermosas que se unieron a nosotros en 2017 para pintarla, la despojamos e hicimos una restauración completa, para que resistiera los elementos tanto como nuestras creaciones más nuevas. Inicialmente queríamos replicar el original, pero pronto nos dimos cuenta de que esto no sería arte y no nos permitiría fluir. Así que decidimos pintarla con amor con la misma energía, pero creando una nueva Mama, respetando la original pero refrescándola en más formas que solo el cemento.

Dia 3, 4, y 5
Como de costumbre, decidimos emprender un gran desafío que consistía en pintar murales en cada uno de los 5 bungalows y pintar por completo el Templo del Libro de la Selva. La energía subió y la diversión también, pero sobre todo nos sorprendió la increíble belleza creada por un grupo tan pequeño de personas en tan poco tiempo.
El día 3 de la Fiesta Mítica fue muy especial y solo pintamos la mitad del día, porque era el día de la boda chamánica de dos TierraMiticanos: Leroy y Niloufar. La boda fue absolutamente mágica en todos los sentidos: nuestro anfiteatro se transformó en una escena que parecía sacada directamente de las Historias de las 1001 Noches y Niloufar consiguió la boda de sus sueños como una hermosa princesa árabe, rescatada por su poderoso caballero de brillante armadura.
Después de una larga noche de fiesta e improvisación, continuamos pintando al día siguiente. Estamos muy orgullosos del trabajo que hicimos y de todos los involucrados en la Fiesta Mítica de este año. ¡Miren los resultados y vean por ustedes mismos lo que la alegría del arte colectivo puede hacer incluso durante el encierro y la cuarentena!

Así que a pesar de que no pudimos tener la Fiesta Mítica como la planeamos, ¡nos adaptamos a las circunstancias y lo pasamos de maravilla! Terminamos con una explosión, durante nuestra primera fiesta en el templo del Libro de la Selva, celebrando el cumpleaños y aniversario en común de Mikis y Lies y el final de la séptima edición de la Fiesta Mítica.
Ya tenemos planes para el evento del próximo año, y será absolutamente mágico y el próximo nivel una vez más. Estén atentos a las actualizaciones sobre nuestros nuevos proyectos y eventos próximos, porque apenas comenzamos. ¡OH YEAH!
