What to bring

Tarapoto, although a little more temperate than other jungle areas due to the altitude, is still a tropical zone so you will definitely need a hat, light fabric clothing where you can add and remove layers, long pants and long sleeved shirts for walking in the forest, a pair of light hiking boots, a light raincoat, an led headlight, insect repellent for walks in the jungle (a good idea, despite the fact that Tarapoto area has less insects than other parts of Amazonia) and sunscreen.

ATM’s are abundant and there are modern pharmacies for anything you need, so no worries there. Electrical outlets can usually take both US and European plugs so you can charge cameras and other electronic equipment, but please bring any specialized batteries or connection cables.

Please also bring only biodegradable shampoos, soaps and other bath products. If you do not have any, the center will provide them for you. Non biodegradable products and cosmetics cannot be used at TierraMítica for obvious reasons. A swimsuit and a towel would also be fun. You will also need trust, hope, intention and resolve.
